Adding a stone to the bridge - Namedi Consulting

December 2021
EDITION #2

After 20 years of service to Barloworld as Chief Procurement Officer, Sullivan Mphahlele, who managed many of Barloworld’s beneficiaries realised the struggle that they faced and the need for advise and guidance. He finally took a step down so that he could fulfil his dreams in a different way. “These entrepreneurs need me”, were the words which constantly played in Sullivan’s mind, as he began his journey in 2018 with his own consulting company, a, which although registered, had been inactive for many years.

Namedi Consulting was incorporated to serve corporates as well as entrepreneurs at different stages in their business life cycles, with his team as passionate as he is about growing businesses, one entrepreneur at a time. Namedi provides accounting services, business coaching and mentoring, preferential procurement and services in Enterprise and supplier development.

When you come into the presence of Sullivan you will enveloped in his compassion. An unique character whose self-sacrifice for the pure benefit of others has touched so many lives, he speaks of fulfilment when assisting these beneficiaries and how the gratefulness in the feedback from company owners is his joy. Sullivan says that’s what makes the long hours and the sacrifices all worthwhile.

As Namedi continues to advance in their services and build new partnerships Sullivan envisions Namedi engaging the youth, women and disabled as contributors to the mainstream of South Africa by use of technology and hopes that by his contribution, gender, and youth employment, will be sufficient to add a stone to the bridge of the huge gap in an unemployed South Africa.

After listening to fellow colleagues’ retirement stories and meeting an amazing couple from Portugal who shared their life’s decisions with him, Sullivan came to realise that he must pave the way for his retirement and with Namedi being his company, he can do what he likes best, helping others. He is very happy with the place he finds himself right now, with happy clients as his inspiration and motivation also. “But one day I want to retire gracefully and leave Namedi as a legacy to be continued”, Sullivan remarked as the interview ended. A remarkable human being and a dedicated giver to others. May all your dreams come true.
